Day 162: Kitchen cabinet starting to take shape.
Kitchen cabinet Front view. The little box to the right is a
wheel well cover which will tie into the cabinet.
The plyboard to the left front corner is a support for the
45-degree corner. The holes reduce the
weight plus they open access to the interior for a small storage opportunity.
Another view showing the 45-degree corner exterior.
Test fitting the butcher block countertop. Bit-o-trimming is in order.
Kitchen cabinet painting in the kitchen.
Day 173: and then the
ladder shows up. This will attach to the
roof rack making it much more accessible.
Day 176: Test fitting cabinet doors.
Painting the cabinet doors, kitchen wall and trim.
Back to Building kitchen cabinet drawers. I love everything about working with this maple plyboard except the smell when the saw chews on it.
Day 178: Drawers are
prepped, stained and polyurethane coated.
Day 179: test fitting doors and building the closing
hardware.
Installing drawer slides with a simple jig
Each drawer is installed and tested. Multiple adjustments
were required to get the fit exactly right.
Fan fold doors installed.
The back doors are also fan fold and offer access to the
cabinet from outside the van. Note the
drawers extend beyond the frame. The
idea here is that the van wall will be 3 to 4 inches beyond the bottom of
cabinet thanks to the curved walls.
Well, that didn’t work out. I had
to trim and rebuild the drawers to fit into the van.
Painted the kitchen drawer face plates.
Day 181: Drawers installed along with all the pulls.
