Day 31: Welcome to the living room/kitchen/junk storage. Fine dinning with PBJ, chips and fruit. Without cabinets or tables installed yet, we were reduced to folding chairs, boxes and whatever is handy. The fridge and microwave performed better than expected. Battery bank was able to run everything for over two days without charging.
On the road August 3, 2020.
Driving through a South Dakota locus infestation.
And the toilet arrives like 2 days after we left
home on our trip. Dooh! We spent the entire trip touring every public
bathroom along the highway. Funny how
your strategy adapts. The lady at the
campground would say we have a great site with a lovely view of the lake. And we would say How far is it from the bathhouse? Those 2:00 AM trips to the bathhouse resulted
in multiple wildlife encounters from Deer, elk and some rodents we were unable
to identify in the dark.
Much easier to drive than the big class A motor home. You can easily forget you are in an oversized vehicle.
Welcome to the office. We both worked some on this trip. The Van has a WIFI hotspot that provides awesome bandwidth. We could both work online with no problem.
First night camping in Clarksville Tn. Nice little campground near the office where I worked on a project. You don't see it in this picture but the bath house is directly across the street from our campsite.
Camping day 2 near Nebraska City at Hidden Falls cabins and RV campground. This place has the best bath house on the planet! Extremely clean and private. Each shower/bathroom is a separate room with a locking door. That's not something you normally find at a camp.
We were averaging 18 to 19 miles per gallon. But as you can see from the gages my driver is pushing it to 80 mph which turns our ecofriendly van into a thirsty beast dropping the mileage to 16 mpg.
Welcome to South Dakota
The batteries have Bluetooth app that monitors the SOC and other vital information. In an attempt to differentiate the batteries I named them after two famous historic figures, well at least in our family.
Camping in Northwest Jackson at Minute Man RV Park & Lodging near Badlands National park. You guessed it our campsite is directly across from the bath house!
The view from our bedroom in the park.
And then we drove home. We learned a lot about what works and what we need to change. The location of cabinets and tables, etc.
Now back to the build!
