Day 119: Home Depot
run to pick up butcher block for the kitchen cabinet countertops. Butcher block is very pricey and we have never cut or installed counter tops before. So this is another nerve racking episode of van building.
Added a trickle charger to for the crank battery. The van comes with a 70-amp Hr. AGM battery
to crank the gas engine and supply accessories.
The Van is pretty thirsty for amps so this little gem will keep the
crank battery fully charged while it sits patiently waiting for us to finish
this build.
Day 121: install
sliding shelf in the garage cabinet, Also installed the 22 gallon fresh water
tank.
The shelf fully extends and is rated to hold 500lbs. On top of all that it was extremely easy to
install.
The garage shelves are part of the bed support system. You can see the construction is 2x4 to carry all the bed frame weight. The height of the cabinets are designed to allow us to pack our mountain bikes in the garage and when the bed frame sits on these cabinets the top of the frame is level with the window boxes.
Day 122: Installed little shelf over the sliding door with a
bungy to hold our stuff snug and tight.
The battery box in the other garage cabinet gets an upgraded
plexiglass door. Also moved the battery
disconnect switch to the exterior back wall.
In the event of a catastrophic failure where we need to switch off the
batteries I don’t want to crawl into the box to do it.
Day 126: Installed over the bed storage cabinets. This is where clothes will be stored.
Back view of all the cabinets. The garage is almost done. I need to install wire management and a few shelves to complete that area.
Test fitting the storage boxes that will hold clothes and
personal affects. Kind of looks like
they were made to go together.
Next we start on the kitchen cabinet...
